Lucie’s amazing happy ending!

April 30, 2011

I walked into Petco with my dad. I wasn’t planning to get a pet, but my love for animals always drove me into pet stores. We first went downstairs to look at the smaller animals, and then, as I was about to walk outside, my dad reminded me of the cats. So we went there. I was observing the ones in the lower cages, due to my height.  But my dad, being tall, spotted one in a high cage. He told me to look at her. And I fell in love with her. I think that I finally decided to get her when her right paw extended out of the cage, as to signal an invitation. When I got home I begged to get her. I actually got on my knees. And then, somehow, my parents agreed. But there were some problems. For one, she is FIV positive, FIV is like HIV but for cats. That raised some doubts, as if to get her. Another issue was that we are an Italian family, and plan to live back in Italy in a while. So the question was can we bring her along? Turns out, yes, we can with a bit of work. Having overcome these problems we adopted her. And, even if she is very demanding, she has to be one of the best things that has ever happened to me.

Snoodles (Jubilee)”has been a total sweetie.”

April 30, 2011

Snoodles (Jubilee) is doing great!  She has been super affectionate and has been a total sweetie. She’s been purring a LOT! She’s been absolutely the sweetest kitty–no problems at all, adjusted quickly and very affectionate—as you can see, she looks pretty happy!  Thank you again for all of your help…she’s just the cutest!

The delightful, Rainbow (Betty)!

April 30, 2011

Rainbow (now Betty) is doing great.  She is a total delight playing fetch with her little rabbit fur mice, climbing on her new scratching post, sitting on my lap, rolling over so I can pet her soft white belly.  She eats her two small cans of food a day (Wellness or Natural Balance). She watches out the window for birds, squirrels, stray cats and my neighbor’s dog chattering away the whole time.

Thanks for checking in and thank you for letting me adopt Betty.

Warmest regards,

Sweet & Gentle, Shirley.

April 30, 2011

I visited my mother’s house, and Shirley has adjusted beautifully to her new home in Connecticut. She immediately took to her new bed in the kitchen. When my mother went to the living room, Shirley would walk in there and call to her to follow her back to the kitchen, where Shirley would go back to her bed and stare lovingly at my mother, kneading and purring. Well, my mother bought her another bed for the living room, and now Shirley keeps my mother in her view for most of the day.

When Shirley’s not on one of her beds or in her favorite box, she sits on the ledge in the den, which is full of windows. She looks into the back yard at the squirrels and birds from time to time throughout the day. Her personality is a great fit for my mother, who says she is very sweet and gentle. She has become so attached to my mother that my father said Shirley was crying when my mother was out for a few hours.

My mother also cooks chicken that she substitutes for the Fancy Feast, and Shirley goes crazy over it.

All in all, Ruth and Shirley are a great match.

Supermodel Magnolia & Music Producer Hercules!

April 30, 2011

Hercules and Magnolia are GREAT!  After 2 months in their new home, Hercules’ and Magnolia’s true colors have really come out.  They’re very chatty, playful and loving.  They’re also very useful around the house – Hercules has become the self-proclaimed alarm clock and Magnolia seems to enjoy helping out with the laundry.  Even more, we may have a supermodel and a music producer in the making, not to mention a pro-wrestling tag team for sure!

Hope that’s good!

Reggie and Rasta are doing great, they really got comfortable around us, they don’t hide anymore, welcome us when we get home, sit with us and watch TV when they’re not being mischievous…. Really wonderful cats, my wife and I LOVE them.  You can let your volunteers know that they found a good home, we treat them with real care.

Lola:”She’s quite curious, likes to explore”

April 17, 2011

When we saw Lola, we knew she was the one for us!  She looked at us and rolled over for some belly scratching.  She was so sweet and gentle, just looking for love and had the most beautiful markings.  When we heard her story, being rescued from a hoarder’s house, we wanted to give her a good home right away.

Since coming to live in her new home, she’s completely adjusted.  She’s quite curious, likes to explore (whether it’s boxes or nooks and crannies in the closet) and loves to play with almost anything she can get her paws one!  She likes to cuddle and sleeps with us at night.  She’s learned not to wake us up until it’s time to go to work.  She’s always there to greet us when we come home and that’s the only time she’s very talkie (unless it’s time to eat of course).

She loves napping, and lounging, and still loves to roll over belly up for some good scratching.  We’re thrilled that she’s so happy and that we have new addition to our family!

Sophie & Gracie: “They have such good personalities”

April 14, 2011

We are soooooo in love with our girls – Sophie & Gracie…we kept the names.  It is the perfect match for us.  The two of them play very hard together and then fall asleep in various places!!!    I attached a picture with their favorite toy, which I had for all of our other cats, and they love it!!  They wake us up in the morning by running over us on the bed at high speed chasing each other…Sophie likes to be under the covers with us too!  Gracie has been more independent and sweet and it takes her longer to cuddle. We respect that!  The other pictures is the girls on “mama’s chair” and  they both find it comfy on the 2 levels and I love that they can be with me on it!  They have such good personalities and I’m sure the foster mother is a part of how wonderfully they have been and so easily able to adjust to us….we couldn’t be happier!!!!

Thank you Kitty Kind and all their helpers!!!!  We will take care of them in all of their needs!!

Sincerely, Vivian & Scott

A curious & playful Michelle

April 14, 2011

“When I first moved to New York, one of my absolute requirements was a cat, as I had to leave my current cat behind as she was too ill to travel.  Michelle was the first cat we fostered with Kitty Kind, and she won our hearts.  My boyfriend was especially besotted, as he had never had a cat before and thought she was the greatest thing he’d ever seen. Michelle was rescued from hoarders, had a cold and an eye infection, and spent her first few days with us wedged into tight corners and climbing the curtains.  She was one of the saddest things I’d ever seen.  Within a week though she had bounced back and was exploring everything.  She would push the tops off boxes to get inside and drag shoes all over the house after her by their laces.  Ready for adoption, we brought her back to the adoption center and she was easily the most beautiful kitty there.  We went on to foster two more wonderful kitties who also made a place for themselves in our hearts.  When my cat back in Toronto had to be put to sleep, it was devastating for me, and, by that time, Michelle was still in need of adoption.  I hesitated because it was so soon after I had lost my cat, but it seemed as though Michelle was meant for us.  Now she is home with us at last, and coming home to see her waiting at the door is one of the best moments of my day.  She is still curious about everything, poking into cupboards and drawers and knocking her toys around.  She loves to sleep with us at night and gives anything to have her tummy rubbed.  For Michelle and for us, it is the happiest ending imaginable.”

Gracie(Grace):”makes the most interesting melodic whirring sound”

April 14, 2011

Grace (I shortened her name to just Grace, suits her better I think) is doing great! She has really become comfortable with me in these last weeks, she is so loving and sweet. She is much more herself and so playful now, and loves sleeping in on weekends (all 10 hours on my stomach or chest haha). She is so chill she even lets me hold her paws and cut her nails!  My sister came to stay with me for a holiday and instantly fell in love with little Grace! She makes the most interesting melodic whirring sound, she is very expressive. I think she is just gorgeous with her pink nose and bright yellow eyes that look almost reptilian, her coat is so unique as well, with the distinct grey and peach patches and a fluffy pure white chest and tummy. I’ve really never seen anything like her! As you can tell I have spent too much time studying her every inch. I got an iPad which she loves, they have applications for cats you can download that have visuals of mice and if you hit it you get a point, she gets a high score every time….no really!
