Barnaby, Happy at Home

January 31, 2010

Barnaby is doing very well in his new home.  We were concerned at first because he is extremely picky with his food, but we have found both a wet and a dry food that he likes very much.  He took to the litter box and the scratching post/pad right away. My partner and I are both so glad that Barnaby is such an affectionate, lovable and playful cat.

He seems to be very happy with us and we are glad that we were able to provide a home for him.  Barnaby’s former owner, Alice, has been in contact with us and we have sent her pictures as well.  She is glad that he was able to find a home as well.

James, Happy to Run and Play Around

January 28, 2010

I can’t thank the KittyKind volunteers enough for letting me adopt James. He is lovely and seems very healthy.

I kept him in the bathroom with the door partially opened with a screen the first night. My adult cat Bert was very cautious but interested. The second day I let James out and he found a nice spot in the closet. He came out only to eat and use the litter box. From the third day on, James and Bert have been doing fine. No hissing or growling. They seem to enjoy each other and  even rub their faces together. James loves the toys and scratching posts and is very kitten like. Bert seems to maintaining his dominance and James is just happy to play and run around get a good head-rub. Both boys will see the vet next week.

Thank you again.

The Three (Very Cute) Amigos

January 27, 2010

I started out being a fosterer a few months back, so when I was first asked by Miriam if we could take 3 kittens to foster for a short time, I was delighted. We got the gorgeous little ones home and, after a day, we didn’t want to give them back.  We saw how they got on so well together, played and cuddled up together; we felt we could not split them up at all.  We didn’t want to have to choose between them, which one to keep, so we decided, after a short time, to adopt all 3. We now are so happy we decided to do this!

Let me start with little Lilly, she is just so cute and loves her food!  Lilly is the little baby of the 3 and is easily led by the other two.  She will cuddle up with you at night and likes to be petted and played with. We feel she needs to know someone is there and enjoys being looked after.  Lilly often enjoys a wash from the other 2 also!

Tappy is the most mischievous of the 3 and is always looking for what to do next; however she is by far the most affectionate. She will often jump onto our laps in the evening and likes to cuddle up onto our shoulders, purring away.

Sunny is the independent one of the 3, who likes his own space. He will play rough with the other two and always seems to win (being the male and the biggest). He prefers to sleep on a blanket on the sofa on his own, while the other 2 will curl up together on the chair and fall asleep.
In the short time we have had the 3 amigo’s (as we call them), we have had so much joy every day. They have definitely settled in and walk around like they own our apartment, they are very cute, lovable individuals each with their own unique personality.  We are so pleased that we have adopted all 3 and did not split the amigos up!
Thank you

Two Playful and Loving Kittens Adopted

January 25, 2010

The kittens are great.  They’re extremely healthy, great appetites (1 1/2 tins of good quality cat food a day each plus 1/4 cup good dry) and they’re lively. They’re playful and affectionate and like to be picked up and cuddled.  I need to clip their nails however! The two of them are tearing around the house like maniacs.  They’re great kittens and we’re both very attached to them already. They had a lot of people including small children around them today and managed it all very well.

Mimi and Emmitt, Friends Forever

January 23, 2010

I am so happy to report that all is well with Panda (who has been named Mimi.)  She and Emmitt have met and although he has put her in her place a couple of times, they are getting along fantastically. They are busy chasing each other, running around, and playing with toys. She is eating well and using the litter box like a good girl.  Last night she was a little crazy with the scratching and biting but now she will let us pet her and pick her up and cuddle her without too much of that.  She also didn’t try to hide or avoid Emmitt at all.  She is really a little love and I’m so happy that she is the one we adopted, especially because of her story.  [NOTE:  Panda was rescued by a good Samaritan, who found her wandering with a rope around her neck, and contacted Kitty Kind who took her in for adoption.]

I have attached a picture of Mimi and Emmitt from this morning as they were resting after breakfast.

Thank you so much for your care and concern for Mimi.  She is really a special baby, and I really feel lucky to have her with us!

Thank you and have a great day!

Evie, Happy in her New Home

January 21, 2010

We just wanted you to give you a little update on Eve (we call her Evie!), the newest addition to our family. She’s doing really well and growing stronger and healthier every day. She loves to be petted and sleep at the foot of our bed every night. She’s the sweetest cat one can hope to have and we are so happy to have her around!

Thanks again for everything!

Yam Yam and Ashley, in Their New Home

January 19, 2010

Yam Yam’s many fans will be happy to know he is doing splendidly.  As you recommended, patience (coupled with bribes) did win him over to the point where he is quite friendly to me most of the time, sometimes jumps up on my lap, sleeps on my lap if I’m stretched out watching TV, and most of the time responds to my efforts to pet him with much wriggling and purring.  And I can pick him up!   He’s still very shy of my husband, who so far can only pet him while he’s eating.  And eat he does.  We are mindful of the dietary recommendations and do not want him to get too fat.  But he loves to eat and will eat all of Ashley’s food too if he has the opportunity.  He has grown a lot in the four weeks we have had him.  He loves the feather fishing pole toy and running all over the place.  As advertised, he is a wrestling fanatic.  (We considered changing his name to Hulk Hogan. )  Ashley has been very tolerant of this and actually starts it some of the time.

As a lover of orange tabblies, I had my eye on Yam Yam from the start and kind of viewed Ashley initially just as an acceptable companion since we wanted to have two kittens.  She has turned out to be absolutely delightful–with the best disposition of any cat we’ve ever had.  Not just a pretty face, though we do think she’s a beautful girl.  She’s very friendly as well as lively and more curious and a better jumper and climber than Yam Yam.  My husband is really crazy about her.  Many many thanks to every one at Kitty Kind for the help with her after-care when her incision from spaying wasn’t healing properly.

We are very pleased that both the kitties have turned out to be good travelers, accepting the ride in their carriers and delighting in more space (and stairs to race up and down!)  in the country, where we have now taken them twice.

Again, thanks to everyone who took in these wonderful kitties and cared so well for them before they became ours.

JellyBean a Happy and Playful Cat

January 18, 2010

Jellybean is doing great!  He is an essential part of our family now.  Despite what the pictures may lead you to believe, he is actually doing very well on his diet. JB is very playful and he gets along great with our dog, Milo. He loves to help wrap Christmas gifts, especially the ribbons! He is always in such a playful mood.  He always knows exactly when bedtime is.  Right when the lights and tv goes off, he hops in bed and either sleeps at our feet or walks up to his own pillow at the head of the bed and plops right down for the night. He is a very curious cat, whether it is sneaking into the closet every chance he gets, or taking a nap in the cupboard, he is always trying to find himself an adventure.

We really appreciate what you, and the other volunteers at Kitty Kind are doing. It give wonderful cats like Jellybean a nice home and gives everybody that encounters them endless amounts of joy.  Thanks!!

Penny, Made Herself Right at Home

January 16, 2010

Penelope is an energetic and happy kitty we like to call Penny. She loves to be around people and greets us at the door and follows us around the apartment. She has turned into quite the talker who announces her entrance, exit, and general feelings often! She loves to chase around her toys, play with people, look out the window, and of course sleep in a cozy place. We are excited to keep getting to know Penny as she gets older!

Pumpkin Pie, Happy in her new Home

January 15, 2010

Thanks for getting in touch! Pumpkin Pie is doing really well here. She settled in almost immediately, but I’m not surprised. She loves to play and she loves attention. She’s very active.  She seems very comfortable and happy here, and we are happy to have her!
